Shivneri Mahavidyalaya, Shirur Anantpal was named after the fort Shivneri where the great King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who established the Rayat Kingdom, was born; and keeping the ideal of Mahatma Jotiba Phule who opened the path of education to all, Late Adv. Vishwambharrao Mane Saheb, the founding President of the college established Shivneri Mahavidyalaya in the year 2000 at the headquarters of the newly created Shirur Anantpal Taluka. Late Tukaram Made Saheb and Shri Padmakar Mogarge Saheb also helped in the foundation of the college. Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded (S.R.T.M.U.N.) is the first and the only senior college with Arts, Commerce, Science branches in Shirur Anantpal Taluka. This great opportunity and facility has been made available to the farmers, farm laborers, ordinary and intelligent boys and girls in the form of Shivneri College by University Grants Commission (UGC) and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
It is a matter of honour for us that the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) reviewed the overall progress of the college and conferred the grade B+ (CGPA 2.54) on the NAAC rating to the college.
Shivneri College is equipped with all the facilities and has a grand playground, scenic surroundings, well-equipped and grand building, separate gymnasium, sports indoor hall, girls’ hostel and updated laboratories for science and geography, computer lab with internet facility, cafeteria, cycle stand and staff-room. In order to enhance the knowledge of the teachers and students, our college has a well-equipped library which includes books, bibliographies, newspapers, magazines, periodicals, fortnightly etc. Reading material is available. There is a separate reading room facility for the students. Also, a separate department is functioning in the college (N.S.S.) through which various activities like blood donation, veterinary medicine, health camp; tree plantation, sanitation camp etc. are conducted along with special camp.
Career Katta is an initiative for holistic development of youth, being implemented in association with Maharashtra State Department of Higher and Technical Education, Maharashtra Information Technology Support Center and Shivneri Mahavidyalaya, Shirur Anantpal. In this connection, an IAS officer will continuously guide you for 1000 days. In connection with competitive examination, the facility of providing expert guidance from 6 to 7 pm daily has been started with the help of expert professors of the college. Under Career Katta, an initiative will be implemented to bring this highly entrepreneurial development to the entrepreneurs. In this, detailed guidance is being given regarding guidance and managerial skills of entrepreneurs. Both the above activities will be available for a very small fee of Rs 365 annually. Along with this, 50 add-on courses are also going to be provided free of cost, and I appeal to the students to develop themselves by taking advantage of this.
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is going to be implemented in the next academic year due to which the students will get many more opportunities. Facilitation of skill development, promotion of innovation, involvement of parents; and intellectual, physical and mental development of students will be possible. Also, the session method will be applied at the school level; hence, it will be possible to check the skill development of the students. Due to this policy, private institutions will also get opportunities in the education sector. Universalisation of Educations is an alternative to open education. This New Education Policy will help in making all-round personality of the students. This policy will give a new direction to the education sector. Provision of up to six percent of the GDP for the education sector is expected.
Swayam Course Guidance Center since 2020 is available in the college. Students are the focal point of the college; and intelligent and hardworking faculty members are striving to prepare students with cultured, responsible and versatile personalities through education. The Chairman, Secretary and Board of Directors as well as the Principal, Professors, non-teaching staff of our institution are striving for the overall progress of the students.
